Rep. Armstrong Donates Salary to AARC During Shutdown

U.S. Rep. Kelly Armstrong of North Dakota has donated his salary from during the recent federal government shutdown to the Abused Adult Resource Center (AARC).

He presented a check for $7,500 to AARC.

“We are extremely grateful for his donation to our mission,” said Michelle Erickson, Interim Executive Director of the AARC. “It again shows the family’s longtime support and ties to AARC. We will be using his gift for our shelters that serve as a temporary home for abuse survivors and their children.”

Diane Zainhofsky, former AARC Executive Director, said that Rep. Armstrong’s late grandmother, Myrt Armstrong, had been a longtime supporter and volunteer for the AARC and its Seeds of Hope Thrift and Gift Store. Myrt was instrumental in successfully getting the Christmas store started in the Seeds of Hope.

AARC is a nonprofit serving survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and families in a seven-county area in south-central North Dakota.
